Build Your Online Presence

Build a business websiteSquare Websites or Squarespace

Square Websites and Squarespace are different providers. Square connects the site with its selling and payment tools; Squarespace is the design-focused alternative.

Recommended starting point

Square Websites

Personally used by Kristi

Start with Square Websites for a straightforward business site or store when you want website, selling and Square payments to work together.

What to weigh

Check the plan for your domain, design and selling needs. This keeps the site within Square's ecosystem; a more design-focused service or portfolio site may suit Squarespace better.

A useful alternative

Squarespace

Personally used by Kristi

Choose Squarespace instead for a design-focused service, portfolio or informational website when coordinated layouts are the priority.

What to weigh

Scheduling and Email Campaigns are separate subscriptions. Work within the editor's layout system, and check the actual plan and domain-renewal cost.

Already covered?

Keep the website you already maintain successfully. A booking page may cover a business that only needs a service description and booking link.

Related tools and existing-user options (5)

Useful for a specific extra need, or when you already use the tool. These are not extra purchases to make.

  • Namecheap

    Register a domain separately

Choose this for a domain you want to manage separately from your website, with domain privacy on eligible extensions and clear registration, transfer, and renewal comparisons.

What to weigh: Compare the renewal price for the exact extension, including any premium-domain conditions. Privacy is unavailable for some extensions; a domain purchase does not include a permanent business-email service.

Visit Namecheap (opens in a new tab)
  • GoDaddy
    Personally used by Kristi

Manage a domain or keep a simple site

Use GoDaddy for domain management, or keep a simple GoDaddy website that already meets your needs.

What to weigh: Review renewal cost and each optional add-on before checkout. Keep the domain in the business owner's account, even if a designer helps connect it.

  • Bluehost WordPress Hosting

    Host self-hosted WordPress

Choose this when you have decided on WordPress and want guided site setup, hosting, and WordPress support together.

What to weigh: Check renewal terms, backup coverage, and optional services for the selected plan. The included domain and email offers have their own renewal/trial conditions; hosting does not remove responsibility for the site's content and plugins.

Visit Bluehost WordPress Hosting (opens in a new tab)
  • SiteGround WordPress Hosting

    Compare WordPress hosting

Choose this for a WordPress site when managed updates, migrations, backups, and access for a collaborator are useful; select a plan with staging if you need to test changes before publishing.

What to weigh: Staging and on-demand backups are plan dependent. Introductory and renewal charges differ, and someone must still maintain and test the WordPress site.

Visit SiteGround WordPress Hosting (opens in a new tab)
  • Wix
    Personally used by Kristi

    Keep a flexible website editor

Keep Wix when its flexible editor and business apps already support the website you need, or compare it for a specific layout requirement.

What to weigh: Extra layout and app choices add setup decisions; check the phone layout and the cost of the functions you will use.

What to weigh: Review account ownership, shared-drive availability and external sharing permissions. Check storage already included in Workspace.

  • Microsoft OneDrive

    Use included Microsoft 365 files

Choose when the business works in Microsoft 365 and wants its files available across devices and with selected collaborators.

What to weigh: Check included storage and business sharing controls. OneDrive file sync is not a substitute for every backup or retention requirement.

Visit Microsoft OneDrive (opens in a new tab)
  • Dropbox

Share files through a client workflow

Compare when sharing and delivering files is the main need, including work with people outside the business.

What to weigh: Do not pay for duplicate storage without a workflow benefit. Choose permissions and account ownership before sharing.

Sell & Serve Customers

Choose where to sell physical productsShopify or Etsy or Amazon Seller

Shopify is the starting point for your own store. Etsy and Amazon are different marketplaces with their own product rules and costs; choose the channel that fits what you sell.

Recommended starting point

Shopify

Personally used by Kristi

Start with Shopify when you want your own branded product store and a catalog you can manage across selling channels.

What to weigh

You are responsible for attracting customers. Check plan, payment and app costs, plus the fulfillment workflow.

A useful alternative

Etsy

Personally used by Kristi

Choose Etsy instead when your goods meet Etsy's eligibility rules and you want to sell through its marketplace.

What to weigh

Marketplace rules, fees and customer experience shape the business. It is not a general marketplace for every mass-produced product.

Selling through Amazon

Amazon Seller

Kristi has substantial product-selling experience on Amazon

Choose Amazon Seller when you want to sell eligible products through Amazon's marketplace and manage the channel in Seller Central, using your own fulfillment or Amazon's available fulfillment services.

What to weigh

Check selling-plan and category referral fees, product restrictions, and fulfilment/storage costs before listing. Amazon's selling rules and account requirements govern the channel; it is not the Amazon Business purchasing account.

Already covered?

Keep a working store. If your catalog and payments already live in Square, use the Square Websites option under Build a business website before considering a rebuild.

Sell courses and digital productsPayhip or Kajabi

A useful alternative

Kajabi

Personally used by Kristi

Choose Kajabi instead when you need course delivery, a website or landing pages, email, checkout and automation together.

What to weigh

This is a paid platform with plan limits. Compare the integrated functions you will use against the systems you already have.

Already covered?

Use your existing course or digital-sales platform if it already delivers the product well. A single coaching appointment may only need the booking and payment tools.

  • Venmo Business Profiles

    Accept requested Venmo payments

Choose this when customers already ask to pay with Venmo and you want a separate business-facing profile, business QR code, and supported mobile Tap to Pay options.

What to weigh: It requires an accompanying personal Venmo account and is mainly managed in the app. Business transaction fees, verification, limits, and refunds still apply; do not present it as a complete inventory, booking, or bookkeeping system.

Visit Venmo Business Profiles (opens in a new tab)

  • Acuity Scheduling

    Configure richer service scheduling

Choose this for a service calendar that needs intake forms, staff or resource availability, paid appointments, packages, subscriptions, or gift certificates.

What to weigh: There is more to configure than a basic meeting link. Confirm the plan for your forms, calendars and payment setup, and test the customer's booking and cancellation path.

Visit Acuity Scheduling (opens in a new tab)
  • Setmore

    Keep simple service-menu booking

Choose this when you need a shareable service-menu booking page, individual staff calendars, confirmations and straightforward customer self-booking.

What to weigh: Check the paid plan needed for two-way external calendar sync, SMS reminders, recurring appointments and removing Setmore branding. Payment-processor fees are separate from the scheduling choice.

Visit Setmore (opens in a new tab)
Send proposals and client paperworkHoneyBook or PandaDoc

Recommended starting point

HoneyBook

Start with HoneyBook when you want proposals, contracts, invoices, payments and client records in one service-business workflow.

What to weigh

Allow time to configure templates and the client path. Confirm the plan for scheduling and automations; do not duplicate a system that already works.

A useful alternative

PandaDoc

Choose PandaDoc instead when your existing CRM or client system is working and the missing piece is proposals, document tracking and signatures.

What to weigh

Confirm the needed integration and plan. Review the actual agreement wording for your service; software does not determine appropriate terms.

Already covered?

Keep your current client system. If an invoice and a signed document cover the engagement, an additional suite may not help.

  • HubSpot CRM

    Track sales contacts and follow-up

A service business or small team that wants customer records, deal tracking and follow-up tasks together, with room to connect other HubSpot tools.

  • Zoho CRM

    Keep a Zoho sales workflow

A small team that needs configurable sales pipelines and wants customer records connected with other Zoho business tools.

  • Zoho Desk

Handle support in a Zoho workflow

Compare when customer support should connect with Zoho CRM or an existing Zoho business setup.

    Connect email with customer channels

Local and service businesses sending newsletters and customer campaigns, particularly when email and SMS may need to share a platform.

    Keep an established email audience

Businesses that want campaign templates and connected marketing tools, especially members whose lists, campaigns or integrations already work in Mailchimp.

  • Klaviyo

    Run product-store customer email

  • Adobe Stock

    License a specific paid asset

A business that needs a paid library of photos, video, vectors or templates, including an existing Adobe workflow.

  • Filmora

    Use a familiar desktop editor

Owners who need an accessible dedicated editor for social clips, product demonstrations and marketing videos.

  • DaVinci Resolve

Use an advanced free desktop editor

A member who wants a substantial free desktop editor and is willing to learn editing, color and audio tools.

  • Adobe Premiere

    Continue Adobe production work

A member already using Adobe tools or needing an established professional editing workflow.
