Google Workspace
Set up Gmail with your business domain
Route new mail for your business domain to Gmail, activate the service and check a business mailbox with a message to another inbox you control.
You’ll needAn existing Google Workspace subscription that includes Gmail, your domain and access to its DNS records. Google Admin access with domain, user and Gmail setup permissions; arrange help from the account administrator if these are delegated separately.
- In Google Admin, open Account > Domains > Manage domains. If verification is pending, use Verify domain, add the unique TXT record at your DNS host and confirm it in Google Admin.
- Create the Google Workspace account and business email address for each person who will receive mail at this domain before changing mail routing.
- When ready to switch incoming mail, follow the MX guide at your DNS host. Add Google's current MX record, smtp.google.com, using the guide's host, priority and formatting instructions; remove the old mail-provider MX records as directed.
- Return to Account > Domains > Manage domains, select Activate Gmail for the domain and complete the on-screen checks.
- After DNS changes are recognized, sign in to the business Gmail mailbox. Send a message to another inbox you control, reply from that inbox and confirm receipt in Gmail.

Set up Microsoft 365 email with your business domain
Use your business domain for Microsoft 365 email and check that a configured mailbox can send and receive.
You’ll needAn existing Microsoft 365 business subscription with Exchange Online email, an owned domain and access to its DNS host. An apps-only subscription does not supply hosted business email. Domain Name Administrator access for the domain setup, plus permission or administrator help to create users, assign the required licenses and prepare mailboxes.
- In the Microsoft 365 admin center, open Settings > Domains > Add domain, enter your business domain and select Use this domain.
- Verify ownership using the wizard's TXT record, either through supported Domain Connect or by adding it manually at your DNS host. Return to Microsoft 365 to confirm verification.
- Before changing the MX record, add every user who receives mail at this domain and set up their Microsoft 365 mailboxes and business-domain addresses.
- Return to the domain's DNS records > Manage DNS. Select Exchange and Exchange Online Protection, then review and add the exact records shown using Domain Connect or the manual DNS instructions.
- Complete the wizard and resolve any reported DNS issues. Once the change takes effect, sign in to the business mailbox and exchange a message with another inbox you control.
